Rob Lowe’s Literally! video episodes go Netflix-only from December 3

Literally! With Rob Lowe is about to split in two. From Thursday, December 3, new video episodes of the Team Coco show will premiere only on Netflix, one every Thursday, while the audio stays on the SiriusXM Podcast Network and in every podcast app. Netflix will also carry more than 30 episodes from the back catalog. The Hollywood Reporter and TheWrap reported the deal, between Netflix, SiriusXM and Lowe, on Tuesday, October 20, together with a Netflix documentary about the actor.

What changes if you listen instead of watch

The audio feed stays where it is, and SiriusXM’s own show page says SiriusXM Podcasts+ subscribers hear new episodes ad-free. The change is on the video side. This week’s episode note still sends viewers to the show’s YouTube channel, and the reports say new video episodes will be exclusive to Netflix from December 3. What happens to full episodes on YouTube after that has not been stated.

There is a second thing regular listeners will have noticed: the feed has been in reruns. The show’s feed shows the last new interview, with Terry Crews, on Thursday, June 4. Since then it has carried re-releases and themed compilations, and this Thursday’s episode, Ed Helms, is a 2022 conversation marked “Re-Release.” The Netflix date gives that stretch an end point: new episodes start December 3.

Literally! is not in our Top 100. Its Team Coco stablemate Conan O’Brien Needs A Friend is, at No. 69.

Why SiriusXM hands Netflix the video

We think SiriusXM does well here: it keeps the audio and the Podcasts+ upsell, and Netflix promotes the show. Netflix gets a celebrity interview show for a video podcast shelf it has been stocking since October 2025, when it signed Spotify’s The Ringer, followed by Barstool Sports and iHeartMedia in December, as Sports Media Watch reported at the time. TheWrap counted 34 podcasts arriving on the service in January alone. The pattern in those deals was the same each time: video exclusive to Netflix, audio everywhere else. Literally! follows it exactly.

Disney has started doing the same thing. On Monday Disney+ and Hulu took two PAVE Studios true crime shows with a one-day head start, as we reported. The streamers are competing for the video version of podcasts while the audio stays free. For listeners that is mostly good news: nobody is paywalling the feed.

One wrinkle: Netflix’s third quarter shareholder letter and earnings call on October 20, the same day as the Lowe announcement, did not mention podcasts at all, Podnews noted. The company is signing the shows but not yet talking about them to investors.

The timing on Netflix’s side is tidy. The documentary, which TheWrap says traces Lowe’s career from The Outsiders to The West Wing, lands November 24. His holiday film In A Holidaze premieres December 2, and the podcast follows on December 3. Three Rob Lowe projects inside ten days.

Unsolved Mysteries went the other way the same day

Also on Tuesday, October 20, Audacy announced that Unsolved Mysteries returns as a video podcast on Thursday, October 29, with new cases, a new host in Jordan Murphy, and the video on YouTube rather than behind a streaming subscription. Unsolved Media produces, Audacy sells and distributes, new episodes drop on Thursdays, and updates on old cases arrive on select Tuesdays. The season opens with Amelia Earhart, Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 and the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum heist.

Audacy’s head of podcasts, Leah Reis-Dennis, said the video format gives advertisers “new ways to reach fans across audio and video.” Terry Dunn Meurer, who co-created the TV series and runs Unsolved Media, put it more plainly: “There are still so many mysteries that need to be solved.”

So two big franchise shows chose video the same week and picked opposite doors. Lowe’s new video goes behind the Netflix login. Unsolved Mysteries goes to the open platform. In both cases the audio feed stays free, which is the part that matters most to the people reading this.

Literally! audio keeps arriving in the feed on Thursdays, in reruns until the new run starts. The first Netflix video episode lands December 3; the documentary arrives November 24.
