The Rest Is Politics: US streams the midterm results live on YouTube
The Rest Is Politics: US will stream a three-hour live results show on YouTube on election night, from midnight to 3am ET on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, as the first counts come in from Tuesday’s midterms. Goalhanger, the show’s producer, announced the special on Thursday, October 29.
Hosts Katty Kay and Anthony Scaramucci will broadcast from a television studio under the title America Decides, with live analysis of what the results mean for control of Congress and for Donald Trump’s presidency over the next two years. Joining them in the studio are Ed Elson, co-host of Prof G Markets, and Amanda Renteria, who was national political director on Hillary Clinton’s 2016 campaign. Remote guests drop in through the night, and viewers can put questions to the hosts and vote in YouTube polls.
If midnight is too late, there are two warm-up streams left. The show goes live on Monday, November 2 at 3pm ET and again on Tuesday, November 3 at 1pm ET, the last of five lead-up broadcasts that started on Wednesday, October 28. Goalhanger says recordings of the lead-up streams are released on the podcast feed afterward, so audio listeners get them too.
The format has a track record. Goalhanger says its 2024 US election broadcast drew more than 2.5 million streams on YouTube. This time it is broadcasting from a professional television studio.
One detail that confused even the trade press: the elections are on Tuesday, November 3, and the special starts at midnight at the turn of Wednesday, November 4. Podnews, which carried the press release, corrected its own dates the next day. On the West Coast that is 9pm on Tuesday.
The Rest Is Politics: US is one of several podcasts turning the midterms into live or near-live programming. Hillary Clinton and Kara Swisher’s limited series High Stakes has been running inside the On with Kara Swisher feed since mid October (our report), and MeidasTouch launched a 24/7 news channel on Prime Video and Fire TV on October 27. We think the Goalhanger stream is the one to try if you want a British and a Wall Street view of an American night, which is the show’s whole pitch.
